I've had my HB-1 speakers and HC-1 center channel for a few months now and have been happy. I have a Pioneer vs-1018 receiver and speaker impedece set to 6 ohms. Just by chance I was looking at the HC-1 specs and it says nominal 12 ohms min. 8. Should I set my impedence to 8 or leave it at 6?

At 8 you wont be forcing your receiver as much... You receiver will output a few less watts also...
8ohms is fine..
The impedance will vary depending on frequency anyway...A lot at some freqs, but thanks to xovers/limiters you don't have to worry about that anyway...

even if the HB-1 specs say min. 4 ohms/ nominal 6 ohms, I should set ny receiver to 8 ohms?

If your amp can easily handle 6ohms go ahead...

The receiver should always be set to 8 ohm no matter the of the impedance of the speaker. All the impedance switch will do is limit the current that is available to the speaker thus reducing the power the receiver can output.
