View Full Version : Securing 1220's (so I don't knock them over).

I'm a little clumsy so before ordering my dual 1220's with the HSU 500 watt amp, I wanted to hear from Sasha and 1220 owners. How can I secure them (in case I bump into them). I expect to place them vertically in a corner.
What would be a good way to insure their safety?
Thanks in advance.

If you place them in a corner, they won't fall (mine hasn't).

You can goto home depot and get some nice designer black metal chains (they sell by the foot in the rope and cable section). loosely wrap the chain once around somewhere near the uppper 1/3 of the tube. Then secure the chain to the wall with a anchor screw.
My 1220 is in the corner and behind a rack of equipment, so I did not feel the need to do this myself.

Whatever happened to the footing option that would have gone between the driver and the tube, which would have allowed for an upside down installation?

Lwang Thanks
I never knew there was an option to install them upside down. I hope someone here can discuss this in more detail.
Thanks in advance.

Actually, I'm not sure there is an option like that. However, there was some discussion from Dr. Hsu (I think) indicating that he was considering offering something like that. It was quite a while ago when I heard this. Perhaps he or Sasha can comment.
This issue is pretty old. I think the possibility that Lwang is speaking of was here:

As I mentioned above, I hope Dr. Hsu can comment on this. However, I'm confident he'll address this issue in the successor to the 1220. I don't know when that might be expected though. The 1220 performance is still spectacular, even by today's standards.
