Hi -- wondering how great a difference there is between the new VTF-3 MKII and the VTF-3R (not MKII). I am about to buy a used one for $425 - the older version, but it has the downward firing woofer, so not that old I guess. ROsewood finish (which the seller tells me is actually a metal laminate? true?). Is this a good deal? Or am I better off simply buying a new one for a few hundred more...
The rosewood finish is less preferable to me than the glossy black, btw. So that is not the issue.

Have you e-mailed Hsu and tell them your room size and what application the sub would be used for.If not I would suggest that would be the best place to start. They will tell you which one of their subs would best fit your needs.

It can't be that old if it has the rosewood finish. If it is in good shape it sounds like a good price to me. I think they were around $1,000 new($800 without rosewood). The performance may be a shade behind the MKII, but it is the price of an STF-2.
And e-mailing with your room size will let you know for sure if it will fit your needs.

Thanks.I have just done that, though I don't think I have two days to decide on the sub that is for sale. I think I will take it, and try it out. I read somewhere here that I can upgrade the amp if I like for $200. The only real downside is I would much prefer the black laquer finish.

Well, tht settles that. The wife just kiiled the deal. hates the rosewood. Wants the glossy black. So back to square one.
