View Full Version : Min distance between VTF3 and Computer

I have a VTF-3 (love it) in HT setup with a HTPC (Home Theater PC). How far away should I put my Computer from the Sub to not inflict any damage.

Things I'm mostly concerned about is magnetic shielding (will the huge magnet corrupt my hard drive) and vibration (will it crash my hard drive due to strong vibrations)?

Any comments are welcome!

Thanks!

Its great to know that someone is using the VTF-3 with a HTPC.

Dr. Hsu thinks that even if you put the VTF-3 alongside the computer, or the harddrive directly on the VTF-3, it would NOT demagnetize the harddrive.

The vibration is another matter altogether. We haven't done any testing. I know that many harddrives are rugged enough to work in laptops where there is vibration. Maybe your harddrive has a specification that indicates its vibration resistance. The hardrive might have a reduced lifespan because of the vibration, but that is speculation.
