Did a lot of research and was considering the Was interested in the Ventriloquist VT-12 and the subwoofer combo (STF-1 & VT-12). Ont this site it says you get $100 off any sub if you order the combo, and another page it says get $100 off the VT-12 price if you buy a subwoofer; however, the VT-12 are $299 here vs. compusa's $199 price. So, this really isn't a discount per se. Why be deceptive with a "discount"? Sorry, it bugs me when they do this.

It's generally the case that big resellers such as Compusa sell at a lower price than the manufacturer. It's how they stay in business. The manufacturer gives a certain discount to individual buyers if they buy a complete system. For the manufacturer that's a discount. A Compusa buys in quantity and gets a bigger discount, which they pass along to their customers. Hsu isn't claiming a discount from the Compusa price, only a discount from their own price. Compusa is free to sell at a further discount should they choose to do so, and Hsu is not obligated to match their price. I rarely purchase from a manufacturer when there is a discounting distributor available for this very reason. Now if I'm buying a Dell computer, that's a different story; discounting distributors aren't available for Dell computers.
