Currently I primarily use:

Ascend CMB-170s and a VTF-2. I am waiting to get some carpet on the hardwood floors to minimize the slap echo, so I can really appreciate these speakers. I had to sell my Mackie HR824s since I can't really appreciate them in the living room with slap echo.

Dr. Hsu uses the Ascend HTMs primarily, with a receiver he got at Costco and a $100 DVD player.

Interesting choice, Dr. Hsu. I don't feel too bad about listing my equipment now. I find the same thing with a lot of people who make careers in the a/v industry. People always assume I have an amazing system at home when in reality, I just don't have the time or focus to improve on my system.

PSB Stratus Mini
PSB Stratus C5
PSB Alpha LR Surrounds

HSU VTF-3 Mk2
Marantz SR6300 Receiver
Panasonic DVD-A Player
Sony Minidisc
Sony 34" Direct View
Yamaha Cassette Deck
Sony VCR
Scientific Atlantic Digital Cable Box
Philips Pronto TSU 2000

Nothing really top end in my system Except for the HSU but sounds great. I'm all for sensible audio/video gear.

I've got Definitive Technology speakers:
SM350 fronts, CLR2002 center, BP2X surrounds, and BP1.2X back surrounds.

2x HSU Research TN1220HO subs (with Hsu Bass Optimizer)
Pioneer Elite VSX-45TX
Sunfire Cinema Grand (powers front 3 speakers and both subs)
Hitachi 65s500 HDTV
Pioneer Elite DV-45A
Harmony SST-659 remote (awesome!)
Xbox

In case anyone cares, I've got a mish-mash of cables from radio shack, home depot and Monster. I've found no difference between Monster and the Radio Shack interconnect cables, aside from aesthetics and price; ditto with the Monster 12ga speaker wire and the Home Depot in-wall cable. Spend money where it matters: room treatments, better speakers, better electronics; not on snake-oil.

How about using some real speakers that pertains to the music world? Or is Hsu slumming with this Costco/Soundesign setup in order to replicate his new clientel's bases? Don't forget to use the $99 KLH subwoofer as reference ;)

Heres my setup in my family room:
Yamaha RXV-2400
Yamaha DVD-S1500
Dual Yamaha CDM-900 cd players
Toshiba 36" crt
Sony T-60 Tivo
Paradigm Monitor 3 v.3 fronts
Paradigm CC-370 v.3
Paradigm AMS-300 surround BL&BR walls
Paradigm AMS-150 surround BL&BR Ceiling
HSU VTF3-MK2
Monster Cables

I truly love this system it sounds so sweet. I listen to a wide variety of music including bass heavy music ie. Outkast. However, I have been on a Widespread Panic kick and I recently have been exploring sacds and dvd-audios. No matter what I listen to my VTF-3 compliments the Paradigms exceptionally well. It really is truly amazing.

In my screened in porch I have:

Onkyo 601
Onkyo DX-C390 cd changer
Ventriloquist V-12s
STF-1
Monster Cables

My screened in porch is now my wifes and my favorite room in the house. Truly awesome and plenty loud for an 16'x14' room even with horrible acoustics.
