I have two HSU ULS-15’s plugged into the same circuit. It also has at least the lights for the theater on the same circuit. I have noticed in the odd instance that I have the lights up and I am playing a bass intensive scene that the lights Dim with significant bass hits.

Am I losing sub amp power/overhead because of this?

I would like to know the science. Of course a dedicated circuit(s) would be better but I don’t want to go through the labor and expense unless there is true value.

The HSU website says it needs 1,200 peak watts at the wall, so two would be around a full 20 amps for two. I have not checked but I’ll bet that is a 15 amp circuit.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Peter, are you out there?

If the wiring is good, voltage should not drop much even when you approach 20A short term. The problem arise when the wiring is not up to par - loose or oxidized connection.

I am confident in the wiring. The electrician was good and the house is 2 years old. I was concerned with how the amps might react on an "overloaded" circuit.

Thanks for you reply.

A lowered line voltage will simply reduce max output power. It will not harm the sub. Even if the power is reduced by 30%, its unlikely to be audible. A dB or two less is usually hard to detect without a A/B comparison.
