I have a TN 1220 HO that has been sitting in a corner unused for about 6 years because I built a custom sub, similar to the 12va (using HSU 12" driver), and now use my HSU 250 watt amp with it. I would like to use both subs but the HSU 500 watt amp is a bit out of my budget. So, as an alternative, I'm thinking of buying a affordable second amplifier and the bass optimizer to use with the TN 1220.
Can anyone offer advice on what would be a good amp to use...maybe something I could find used?

Thanks for any help.

I purchase a used parasound hca-1000a amp and use it to drive two TN1220 tubes with the HSU bass optimizer.

Two nice features of the parasound amp, one is that it has a 12 VDC trigger for integration into my remote turn on/off system and second that it has volume/gain controls for the left and right channel that have been helpful in balancing my two 1220 tubes.

I believe that whatever amp you get it needs to be rated at 200watts into 4 ohms which is exactly what the HCA-1000a can handle. More power may be useful if you really need the headroom. However, I find the HCA1000a is plenty for my hometheater.
