Hi All,

I recently discovered Hsu subwoofers after hearing a VTF-2 at my friend's house. I play bass guitar as a hobby, so I have a natural affinity for rumble! My bass amp is a QSC PLX 3002, putting out 900 watts / channel into 4 ohm 2x10" and 1x15" Carvin cabinets.

Anyway ... my friend with the VTF-2 sometimes cranks up the music so loud I can hear the VTF-2 stressed. Could be wind coming from the ports? My room is pretty large so I've decided to step up from the VTF-2. However, the VTF-3 is pretty big and heavy, so I'm wondering ...

Would 2 VTF-2's sound as good or better than one VTF-3?

I know there's a coupling effect when two speakers are used.

I hear that Jim Thiel has four subwoofers in his living room!

What do you think?

Even if 2 VTF-2 would equal the SPL of a VTF-3, it would not offer the VTF-3's the extened bass response.

2 VTF-2 would have a low end response of 25hz. A single VTF-3 would reach down to 18hz.

One VTF-3 would be better than two VTF-2s, in my opinion. You will get about the same output level as two VTF-2s placed in the same corner. Further, it goes deeper down to 18 Hz, and has a rubber surround instead of a foam surround for increased ruggedness.
