TN placement

Does the TN sound good when placed horizontally on the floor behind the listening position (behind a sofa)? It's a four by one foot tube, right?

My room is pretty large (15 x 20).

Placing the 51 inch TN behind the listening position is one of Dr. Hsu's favorite locations. There is a lot more impact with close placement, and it usually works out because the direct output can sometimes overcome the often unpredictable acoustics of the room. Yes, the TNs can also be laid on their side behind the couch without a problem--just make sure there is 3-4 inches of clearance between the port and vertical surfaces so the port tuning is not affected. Output will be loud enough for a sealed room of your size, and the TN is one of the most powerful subwoofers on the market, especially when powered with the 500 watt amp.
