Hello,

I'm interested in going with a HSU subwoofer for my setup. My concern is primarily the ability of the subwoofer to sound musical. I will be using the sub for playing movies, but I do not feel the need for house shaking bass. Accurate reproduction of instruments is of a much higher priority. Especially being able to reproduce the organ, as this is one of my favorite types of music.

That being said I am thinking of going with a ULS-15 or a VTF3-MK3. My listening room is a fairly large room of about 18' by 18' with 10' high ceilings that is open to the kitchen and then the rest of the house.

I'm thinking the ULS-15 would be more musical given that it is a sealed design but I would like to know how it would compare to the VTF3-MK3.

Yes, I know that two subwoofers would probably be better in my room but I'll need to see which sub is recommended first and then figure out the budget.

Also, why was the VTF3-HO with turbocharger discontinued? It seemed like a great middle ground between the ULS-15 and the VTF3-MK3. 500 watts and the ability to go down to 16Hz seems like it is perfect. Is the turbocharger even available for the VTF3-MK3 any longer?

Thanks for the help!

The VTF-3 MK3 with its ~350w amp goes easily to 16hz in maximum extension mode with plenty output. It was measured outdoors flat to 13.5hz in the hometheatershack forum, which gives you an idea of its performance!

The ULS is cleaner, and goes deeper.....YES.
But the VTF-3 MK3 feels sometimes stronger...at some passages...
Both are excellent subs.
