I just keep getting more and more impressed with my VTF-3R.

Here's my current situation. My sub is in a very small dedicated room. There is a full array of speakers, widescreen TV and lots of electronics. Everything is basically tuned to the 'sweeet spot', a single overstuffed chair. As you can imagine this can be a problem if more than one person wants to watch a movie. But not really,

I was letting my wife watch one of her choices and we had the full HT up and running. This was not a big action fick, and I cannot remember which drama/chick flick/romantic comedy she was watching. But being the good (great) husband that I am I let my wife sit in my seat (the sweet spot) and I was reading something, sitting on the floor. I was sitting with my back against my VTF-3.

Sudenly I heard this awesome bass. There were no cabinate vibrations and the sound was great. Lots of Bass. Clean. Clear. Deep. Just as if I was in my sweet spot. But what really impressed me is that there were no cabinate vibes, so the sound caught me off guard.

Great job Dr Hsu! I just keep getting impressed.

I think in this case she just kept on watching the movie.

Sometimes she will suprise me and notice the sound quality, but mostly she just has me take out the trash.:(

I've noticed no cabinet vibrations either. Even did the 'glass of water on top of the cab' test. Does anyone know about the internal bracing used in the VTF-3R/II? I suppose I could take the woof out of the bottom and peek inside, but I haven't done that yet.

I suppose you could try that but that would be like asking David Copperfield to tell you how he does his magic act. I preferto just sit back and be amazed and know that I could never do anything like that.

I know, but didn't you ever drive your folks crazy as a kid taking various household items apart out of curiosity to see what made them 'tick'?

The only difference now is that while I still probably couldn't put a radio back together (and have it work) after I reduced it to 2-3 dozen parts, I'm pretty sure I could take a cone out and put it back successfully.

I seem to remeber a post a while back in the HTF about someone who recieved a HSU sub without the woofer inside and the intention of the person writing the post was for a review, so several comments/observations were made regarding the internals.

If you want another fun test to show how the cabinate does not vibrate, try placing a nickle on the top of the sub, standing on it's side. (the nickle on it's side, not the sub)
