I am considering either waiting for the new MBM or getting a used one at a discount. What should I be considering in my decision? It will be paired with my new VTF-1 in Rosenut and I am still trying out satellite speakers (Orb vs A'Diva vs NHT Zeroes). I also have to talk my wife into another black box in the main family room. Will the new ones have finishes like the Rosenut? Thanks in advance for your advice.

I assume you're talking about the NHT Absolute Zero. I would seriously consider the NHT Zeroes rather those other smaller drivers satellite speakers. Small satellite speakers such as Orb or A'Diva does not have enough midbass for you. The NHT Zero will probably has much better midrange and midbass compare to those other satellite due to bigger driver. Also, it's at factory clearance straight from NHT website. Instead of adding a MBM-12, how about adding another VTF-1? Check out Hsu's Clearance page, there's a VTF-1 in walnut color on sale right now.

Also, using smaller satellites requires higher crossover on your sub in order to blend smoothly with the speakers. This will increase localization on your sub and may reduce bass clarity having the sub works harder producing above 80 Hz.

If you're absolutely have to go with small satellite speakers, you could use the MBM-12 to produce midbass that the satellite speakers lack and let the VTF-1 takes over under 50 Hz. Use front pre-outs on your receiver and set your speakers to LARGE and use the sub pre-out for your VTF-1.
