tippy sub?

I have heard that the TN-1220HO sub may be a little tippy. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats that like to get roudy every so often. They can't tip my Mirage M1's or my Energy center and surround speakers but what about the 1220. I have a special spot for a sub and it's not in back of a couch. Does the unit perform best when standing up and if so, what can I do to protect it besides the electric fence scenario?
