Hey all,

I just obtained a used VTF-2 Mk I subwoofer (which I am very happy with so far - my first sub :)) and I have a few questions. (I emailed to tech support, but don't expect a response over the weekend.)

Can anyone share a copy of the manual for the Mk I?

The previous owner did not have a port plug and did not recall ever having one. I asked tech support if it is possible to obtain one, but I'm guessing that is unlikely. Is it reasonable to close a port with some other material (e.g. a tightly rolled towel)? What did the supplied plug consist of/look like?

The power cord that was supplied did not have a ground pin for the wall outlet. Was that stock/normal or should I use a grounded plug?

If any VTF-2 Mk I owners have any model specific advice, I'd be glad to hear it.

Thanks.

Thanks so much for your prompt response. I expected you would be out enjoying your Friday evening. I, on the other hand, will be playing with my new toy.

I have to say that I got a big grin on my face when I first heard that thing rumble.

I've noticed that later models of the VTF-2 use carpet spikes.

Any thoughts or advice on using spikes with the Mk I?

I'm considering something like the Dayton DSS4 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002KR7OA/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=304485901&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0002KR8H6&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1EHKCW2ZE5WFPPEZQEY1)

If I were to use them, I expect that I would remove the existing feet, but I am wondering if I need to make sure the height of the enclosure doesn't change too much.

In case it helps anyone else, here's the email response I received from Pete Hsu regarding retrofitting carpet spikes:

I wouldn't bother with spiked feet on the VTF-2 MK1. In fact, rubber feet is nice because it works well on all surfaces...

If one uses spiked feet, then it would be best to use something two inches tall.

I'm not even sure that the VTF-2 MK1 feet are removable...

Sincerely,

Pete
