I finally purchased th vt-12 (comp usa $99).

Well, I haven't put it together yet, but I was wondering if there would be any gain in obtaining a 2nd back surround speaker.

If so, how would you wire it (I have a 6.1 receiver panasonic xr25 $99) :D.

Thanks for this site and any response and happy holidays!!!

With 6.1 you wouldn't need an additional speaker for the rear center. With a receiver that has amplification for two rear center speakers (7.1) you would need another speaker. I have a 6.1 channel receiver and have the rear center speaker wired directly to its dedicated input on the receiver. Using the VT-12, you just follow the bridging instructions for the rear center speaker "when used with a 6.1 receiver."

I also picked up my VT-12 a CompUSA for 129.00. You got a heck of a deal. I went back to see if I could get another but all they had was the display model. I told a friend about the display model and he went down to buy it but he said it was too crowded (holiday shoppers). I guess he wasn't as gung-ho about getting such a good deal. If he was, he would have followed up to see if they were still there. I used to have all Bose, but dumped them. I now have all HSU. My friend has Bose, but I did inform him that they were mere hype.

I know that it would work with 6.1, but I was wondering if:

1. You could actually connect 2 vt-251's to I guess futher envelop the surround experience.
2. Be anymore beneficial with 2 surrounds, for the few 3x/es titles.

...or am I just crazy, and should be happy with the deal I have.

Also, is 6.1 a better listening experience. For instence, watching LOTR: ROTK, or Open Water, does the VT-12 bring you into the movie that much more?

Thanks

Yes, it is too bad only a few movies actually use Dolby Digital EX or DTS ES. The ones that do offer an even better surround experience. I read a report on using one or two speakers for the rear center channel. Some of the people used in the test preferred two speakers over one while others were just fine with the one rear center speaker. I am satisfied with my 6.1 system, but if I ever upgrade my receiver, I will get a 7.1 receiver.
