Hi,
New to all this, purchased the VT-12 and STF-2.
I have a JVC surround sound receiver (already had it) it has four front speaker outputs, 2 for rear speakers (then center channel and subwoofer of course).

Can I plug one of the rear speakers into one of the front speaker outputs?
I'm guessing I'm not supposed to do that, but following the 5.1 setup where I connect the left and right rear to the center rear is gonna be a pain.

No you cannot plug rear speakers into front speaker outputs. You will not get the right surround effect.

Yes the extra wiring is a minor pain, but it is an effective way to get 6.1 (matrixed) sound out of a 5.1 reciever. If you do not want to mess with the wiring, then just don't use the rear speaker. You will still have a nice 5.1 system. When you upgrade to a 6.1 reciever, then you can hook up the rear speaker.

Remember that the trouble of hooking up the speakers occurs only once, yet the listening enjoyment lasts for years.
