Is the hb-1 mk2's coating vinyl on the satin black, and is the espresso coating a dark-stained wood veneer? Thinking about getting a new enthusiast 2 package, and trying to decide on the color. Thanks for your help.

Hi chambers,

The Satin Black finish is a smooth black paint finish (non-vinyl). The Espresso finish is a real wood veneer, dark brown in color, and the wood grain lines are visible when you see the speaker in person.

Espresso finish is significantly more luxurious than Satin Black finish, and matches well with a lot of popular furniture available today, so it is definitely worth checking out!

Sincerely,

Hi chambers,

First of all, Welcome to the forums.

I have the enthusiast 2 package in satin black and I think it looks more "high tech". I think it depends on what kind of a look you want and whether you want to match or contrast your furnishings.

There's pics of my setup here: http://forum.hsuresearch.com/showpost.php?p=31684&postcount=8

I'm making my budget to upgrade to HB-1 MK2 and a VTF-1 sub.
