I try to connect my STF-2 to the sub connector of the Pre out on the Onkyo NR900. The subwoofer setting is set to Yes on the NR900. But there is no sound sending to the STF-2. Is there anything I should do to troubleshoot and fix the problem?

The STF-2 produces sounds when I connect the subwoofer to the Left or Right speaker connector in the Pre Out area.

Can I connect the STF-2 to one of the speaker connectors in the Pre Out area? What configuration steps do I need to do on the SFT-2, crossover setting, frequency, etc.?

Thanks.

Does the light on the STF-2 turn green when it is attached to the Sub pre-out? Are you playing information that has deep bass? What is the crossover of your reciever? Are the connections tight?

You could use speaker level connections, but I would try to work out the LFE pre-out problem first.

Yes, the light on the STF-2 turned on when I connect the subwoofer cable to the unit. But when I tried to select the Auto, the light turned to red.

I was just tuning into the local jazz and classical radio stations.

I did not configure the crossover on the NR900. I will verify the connection.

Thank you very much.

Put in a movie with some deep bass. A classical station may not have much bass depending on what they are playing.

Your best to balance up all speakers and subwoofer up with an SPL meter. You may find in the Onkyo's speaker setup menu that you need to increase the subwoofer output level. But this is where an RS SPL meter earns its keep. For a reasonable sum it is worth its weight in gold as far as what it can tell you.
