Strange problem

I just got the Ventriloguist and STF-2 sub at Comp USA.
My Reciever is the Onkyo 602.
When I hook the rear center speaker to my rear back left channel like the Onkyo manual say and use the two jumpers on the speaker, my receiver goes to protect mode. When I take the jumpers off it works fine.
What could be the problem?
Will the speaker get damage if I don't use the jumpers?

Make sure you are going black to black and red to red with the jumpers and no stray wires anywhere.

I put the jumper for the red on the two right posts and black on the two left post.
I have check, there is no stray wires but still goes into protect mode with the jumpers in.

I know this will sound silly, but is the polarity correct, and is the connection correct at the reciever. Have you told the reciever that you have 6 speakers, or does it think you have 7? Double check your speaker setup on the reciever.

Yes I check and double check and the polarity are correct. I also told the receiver that it has 6 speakers.
