Hi all,

I'm new to the HSU forum, but have had a 1220 (used with both a 250 and a 500w amp...) for a long time. I haven't used it in quite a while, but pulled it out of mothball to bring back that Hsu sound a while back and much to my horror discovered my driver suffered some form of invisible damage .

After playing around with it for a while hooked naked (tubeless) to my receiver (Integra DTR 7.4) instead of one of my mains (Ohm 2xo's) while listening to a basey CD (Antimatter vs Antimatter), I think I figured out part the problem. Over time in storage, the cone has creeped over a tiny teenee little bit, so it now makes awful clipping-ish sounds when reproducing base (higher freq sound is not all that affected). However when I apply a little (very little) pressure to one particular spot on the spider, it quiets up enough for me to hear the voice coil is fine, even at lower freqs, and it also has plenty of driving power to go through full excursions. (although the sound that makes... )

Anyone know a quick fix solution? (or a driver they want to sell... )

I also want to trade my 500w amp for a second 1220 and another 250w amp (L/R stereo- no dual mono) if anyone is interested in the 500 and has them laying around  . I believe my 500w has the 90 x-over chip in it BTW.

I'll be talking with Pete at Hsu again tomorrow, but want to see what others here have to say.
