I have a VTF3-Mk3 in satin black. At one point I had the turbo kit connected. The turbo kit included a rubber mat that was positioned between the turbo and sub. I recently sold off the turbo kit and to my suprise, the rubber mat left "rubber grid marks" on the top of my sub. Has anyone else experienced this?...and how can I remove them? Is there a magic cleaner or solvent that anyone has had luck with?

PLEASE help!

Thank you :D

I'm sorry to hear that jnc :( So a soft cloth and some water or spray must not help at all, right? Maybe a local hardware/paint shop would know what to do...?

It's probably vinyl residue from the mat and you should be able to take it off with any of the citrus-based cleaners. Goo Gone is what I used in the past. Of course, try it in a very small area first to make sure it doesn't damage the surface but I can tell you that I've used it on my vinyl VTF2.3 without a problem.

Be careful with goo gone. I used that stuff to clean some tile recently and it caused blisters on the surface of the tile. Make sure you dilute it enough so that it can't damage the sub's finish!

Wow. ShadyJ,

Can you tell me what kind of tile it was? Ceramic? Just curious as I didn't think goo gone had anything that caustic in it.

Thanks,
Ken

It was linoleum tile I believe. It probably wouldn't have been damaged, but I barely even diluted the stuff, I was getting out some tough paint splashes. Would alcohol damage the finish? It's best to ask first, or else you could be sorry later, like me.

ShadyJ,

Are you sure it was Goo Gone? It sounds more like you were using Goof Off which is often confused with Goo Gone.

Goo Gone is citrus oil based which is basically citric acid (strong orange juice).

On the other hand Goof Off is Xylene and Ethyl Benzene based which is a pretty aggressive combination. So much so that it requires an OSHA MSDS publication.

It was called Goo Gone Pro Power spray gel. Perhaps it was because the tile was a bit old? I don't know. I do know that if I were to use that sort of stuff on the sub's finish, I would make sure to dilute it heavily. If I had done that, I probably wouldn't have had a problem.

Hi ShadyJ,

Didn't even realize they had such a product.

Here is the citrus-based one I've been using http://www.magicamerican.com/googone/product/c7f8659a-40a3-412c-9f1c-03108e6a30db.aspx

Glad you pointed this out as it now looks like Goo Gone is a whole line of products not just the original citrus cleaner.
