Has Hsu Research ever investigated THX certification for its subs? I know ths subs would easily pass and would add a highly respected distinction to the Hsu line. Are the THX fees prohibitive?

To quote an insider I met at an audio show and whom has designed many surround processors (this person is very famous in audio circles).
"I would never deal with THX again after the mess they created for me on that design certification". Needless to say he doesn't have THX certification on his newest units.

THX certification is not out of the question. A brief conversation with a THX rep informed me that you need a dramatic 20 Hz cutoff--that no bass is allowed below 20 Hz. My guess is that many companies get sub 20Hz bass wrong, and this is the THX way of keeping quality up--but that is only a guess. We do sub 20 Hz bass fine, so that spec could be tying our hands.
Maybe we could get the VTF-3 certified? In max-output mode there is not much bass below 20Hz, which might fit their spec.
I'm sure that $ will be involved, so if the price is not too great and they don't tell us to change the subwoofer too much, we may consider it.

I couldn't care less about THX certification. Personally I dont like the specs on THX. I'd rather hear a 16hz sound than nothing below 20. Thats just retarted.
