for those whove heard both, is the stf-1 sufficent with the vh-12 or should i just spend the 100 and get the 2. would i even notice that much of a difference? or would i regret the 1 and end up upgrading later?
thanks!

Though I have not heard the STF-1, I would say buy the largest sub you can comfortably afford.

well, i ended up just going for it with the 1 anyway. it should be suffecient for my needs. i can always upgrade later, and keep this as a bedroom system.

For its size/price, I think the STF-1 is the most impressive Hsu sub.
Once, during a demo at Hsu's offices, I thought the VTF-3 was playing, and Dr. Hsu corrected me with a big smile on his face and said "no, it is the STF-1".

Man I would really like to hear the STF-1.I might just have to convince my son to buy one for his bedroom setup http://www.hsuresearch.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

One in our master bedroom. One in our family room. Neither room is huge, but they're not tiny either. Our family room is 22 x 10.
In both cases, the STF-1 does a wonderful job. One of the primary reasons for choosing the STF-1's (over the larger models) in both rooms was size. The STF-1's are small enough to tuck into corners and visually disappear. But the resulting performance is outstanding.
The STF-1s are the best bargin in loudspeakers that I'm aware of -- and that includes both subwoofers and non-subwoofers.

Do you feel that the STF-1 is adequate for music as well as home theater/TV applications?
Thanks in advance,
Gary

Definitely. In our case, we use the systems for both music and theater. In particular, in the master bedroom, the STF-1 + VT-12 is the only sound system we have. It's used for everything and does a great job.
I suppose people that have a bigger room and/or a bigger orientation for low bass notes may enjoy the higher level output of the STF-2 and other larger systems, but in our case we're very happy. Again, in part, because we the STF-1 is completely hidden from view and just "disappears".

Thank you for your response. I think we we'll try the smaller sub. Our days of listening to music with "thumping" bass are long over. :-)

Gary
