Ok here is my question. Why would the amp of the STF-3 have to be tuned for 20 hz to be used with the turbo.I was thinking of it like this, if a VTF-2MK2 can be fitted with the turbo in the 25hz tune then why couldn't the turbo be used with a stock STF-3 ? I am very happy with it the way it is, it is in a music system only and it does a super job in the tune it is in as a stock sub.

Well, remember wid, a VTF-2 MKII has one port plugged when in 25Hz mode, so a turbocharger effectively doubles this port flow area. On the other hand, the STF-3 already has two open ports, so to really take advantage you will want to have the amp modified for 20Hz mode.

Hope this helps!

That's great...and remember Craig, friends should share...so that means you should let wid borrow one of your VTF-3HO's... :D

Absolutely - All he needs to do is drop by the house and pick one of them up... ;)

Would a turbo work on the Outlaw LFM-1?

Dear Daman,

Very difficult to say, it would be dependent on the spacing of the ports on the LFM-1, in addition to anything else that might impede proper insertion of the turbocharger. One would really need to experiment with it in order to find out. If it works, how cool would that be? :)

Sincerely,

As I recall, the ports are down-firing on the LFM-1, which would probably make it difficult to mount the turbo. Perhaps you could stand the sub on its end...

I do suppose that would work too http://www.hsuresearch.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif http://www.hsuresearch.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

You had better watch out there Craig, I do have family in Pa. I could make a detour if I go out to visit them this year. http://www.hsuresearch.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Wid - Just go to Philly and take a left, follow the music, and you will either find our house or New Jersey. :D

Why would the amp of the STF-3 have to be tuned for 20 hz to be used with the turbo.
Because the turbo for the STF3 is the same as the VTF3.
So it was designed for a flat response with both ports open when combined with the 20Hz re-eq curcuit (max extension) .

I've asked before, but, I'll ask again. I received one of the first run STF3's which actually was sent out in max extension. (it has one of the ports plugged).

What will I need to do to use this new device?

You are quite fortunate, sputnikv, because you will have to do nothing! Just plug the turbo into your rear ports, and you are good to go. In other words, no amplifier modification needed for you! Of course, you will have to remove the current port plug that is included with your STF-3.

Cheers

Outstanding! I was hoping that is what that meant! I'm more and more glad I opted to keep the STF3 tuned the way it is. This just makes it even sweeter.

So I've looked through other posts where you described what the output is equivalent to for the VTF series. What should I expect for the STF3 + turbo charger? The output of 2 STF-3s?

And lastly -- can we preorder these things now? (I saw the note about the HighOutput subs, but may have missed the turbo charger preorder notice)

Thanks!

Good afternoon sputnikv!

The turbo will be just as effective on your STF-3 as it will be on a VTF-3, and will give you the same port flow capability as two STF-3.

I don't think we have any plans to offer preorder for the turbocharger, my apologies. But the upgrade price will be no more than $200, so it is a very cost-effective upgrade even without any discounts.

Sincerely,
