By now most of you know I'm as happy as a pig on a slop farm with my two VTF-3 mkII's. Just curious what do you guys think they would cost at a brick and mortal conventional distribution type sales store my guess is $2000 give me some feed back just thought it would be interesting. ;)

That is a good guess, b/c that is the true list price on those subs.

If you are looking at another brandname and somewhat equivalent pair. The best guess I'd have would be
~$2500-3000 pair.
Unless of course that dealer is a HSU dealer than it would be the same ;).

I say, make friends with the local snobby hi-fi shop. Lure them with your thoughts of "Yeah, I'm looking at buying a PAIR of subs...not sure how much I want to spend. I'm auditioning a pair at my house right now, but I'm not sure if they're the ones for me. Would you mind if I brought one in and listened to several different models including mine in the same setup, all equalized? It'd be fun!"

Heh heh. Never tell them how much the Hsu was, and if they ask make them guess. Don't tell them how much until near the end of your audition because they'll turn their noses up (I've had it happen talking prices of my equipment)

I mean between $1500 to $2000 a piece.
