Just wondering if anybody here has paired the VTF-2 sub with Klipsch RF3 II mains, and what your results were? Significant improvements? Thanks...

In general, the sub has several benefits when used with mains and a dolby compatable receiver:

1) With fronts set to SMALL, the amp and mains don't have to try as hard, allowing more energy to go to the highs. If your amp ever strains now, a sub can provide real gains.

2) A subwoofer provides less "dynamic distortion" than most main speakers. Many speakers are speced out to have a deep frequency response, but a sub still might benefit. The phenomena is that the speaker might be flat to 40Hz at 85dB where it was measured, but when you turn the volume up to 95dB, the bass might roll off compared to the other frequencies. Smaller drivers with less excursion and less able ports simply might not be able to push enough air. Many people aren't aware of this "dynamic distortion". Meaning, you get what you pay for at one volume level, but at higher volume levels the frequency response can be less flat.
