VTF 2 with Def Techs

Hi.

I currently have Def Tech bipolar speakers with 10 inch subs built into each speaker(power tower). Would a VTF 2- MK2 be overkill on the bass end of things? My bass management would look something like this: Large front speakers and Yes for subwoofer. Would I be able to seamlessly integrate this sub with my power towers successfully without too much bass in 13 feet wide by 14 feet long room with adjoining dining room? I was going to go with the Supercube 1 however cost is an issue and the reviews I've read on Hsu subs plus a good price within my budget has won me over. Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.

Speakers to small, xover to 80 to start with.

What receiver are you using?

Any of the Hsu subs will make your system sound better, by relieving the mains from handling the bass workload. You will get better FR too with the external sub.

Tdekany..I am using a Denon AVR 3803 receiver. The bass management is also set to LFE+Main.

MBain. That's what I heard also that it would relieve the mains from handling the workload however, would I need to turn down my sub volume on the BP 7004's and use the Hsu to do all the work or could I blend the Hsu with my mains to level out the FR? I would most likely place the sub in the back corner or near my couch and surround speakers.

You want to try to blend the subwoofer with the mains. Where the mains start to compress or roll off, then the subwoofer will come into play, and will make your system sound noticeably better. It will be discussed in the subwoofer manual.

MB...thanks for the response. I am aware of blending in the sub with the mains however these have built in subs too. So it would appear to almost be blending mulitiple subs correct? Would I need to turn down my BP 7004 subwoofer volume control and just use the VTF2 Mk2 or can I leave my sub volume on my 7004's at the 12 o'clock position and just blend in the sub from that? I know its sounds confusing but ultimately I am most likely going to try blending the sub with my mains because I really do not want to waste the purpose of having the power towers. I just feel a sub would give it that overall eveness and added punch to movies and music.
