View Full Version : Placement of side-firing sub?

With the VTF3-HO being a side-firing sub, and the ports 90 degrees from the driver, how should the sub be placed? Myself, I'm limited to placement between the wall and the couch (or slightly behind), which would put the driver pointing at the wall or couch. Will that affect the sound of the sub?

Dear Scott,
How much space do you have between the wall and the couch? Even just a few inches of distance between the driver and wall or couch should be enough, I think. With the porting, the important thing is to keep at least three or four inches of space between the port and any surface behind it. With turbocharger, this is a non-issue though, since the port would fire forward.
Sincerely,

Yes, that might just work. With the turbocharger ports firing forward, I might be able to place the sub just behind the couch so that the driver would face between the couch and wall. The rear of the sub would face the wall and the turbo ports would face out behind the couch.
Cool. Thanks Peter.
PS: How are those measurements coming along? http://www.hsuresearch.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif
