I just decided to get the vtf-2 insted of the vtf-3 MK 3. My room dimensions are 15 X 16 with two open doorways , one leading to a hallway the other leading to the kitchen. My ceilings are vaulted about 11 ft at the highest point sloping down to 8 ft. My question is will the vtf-2 be good enough for movie watching or should I get the vtf-3 . I will be using the sub with B&W 685 home theater speakers.

Get the 3.3 as that is a big space to fill. Always go one further when getting a sub.

Finances are always an issue, but you can never have too much sub. You don't have to crank it or make it rattle the neighborhood, but the easier you make a sub work to create its output the nicer it sounds. Subs that work to their limits to make sufficient output sound like they are working and strained. Subs that are working easy sound smooth and crisp.

Hi e.mann,

What are the dimensions (HxWxD) of the kitchen and hallway spaces?

My recommendation is to get the best subwoofer that you can comfortably fit into your budget and/or enclosure size constraints.

Of course, if you do start with a single VTF-2 MK3, you can always add another one down the road too :)

Thanks

Sincerely,
