Can I sand off the stain/finish on the rosewood V3?

Does not meet wife approval. I assure it will stay and I will get a new wife if need be, but I would like to make a valid attempt to please.

I ordered some matching stain from the people who made the AV cabinets. I'm thinking, even if its rosewood instead of Cherry, If I can make the color match I'd be ok.

Anyone attempt this yet?
Can it be done?

Anyone know of a pleasant woman in her thirties that can appreciate a good sound? It would be a help if she cooked, cleaned and enjoys sex on a regular basis too.

I'm not sure what would happen if you sanded it. There is a layer of rosewood laminate, and if you sanded the outer layer a bit it might soak up a darker stain.

As long as your next spouse likes Rosewood, she is fine with me ;)

Thanks for the reply.

I posted in the AVS forum and it was suggested I go over it with a cherry veneer.

Looks like I can get it in approximately .025 self stick and just have one seam in the back. This looks like what I'm going do if needed.

What places you are considering for buying the Veneer?

Why return the sub and buy the std version of VTF-3 and do your destruction on that truckbed liner. Of if it is over 30 days old, sell it off instead of returning it. I presume you would still come out ahead that way. That is unless you don't have the diamond coated sander that is required to take off that covering.

The nice thing is that the corners are rounded, so wrapping real wood is possible. As long as the finish is thin enough to, it should work. Too thick, and it will crack.

It's begining to look like " if you can have that, I want this"
Been there done that enough to know that it will only cost me a little money.

I though about telling her that she's not that thin, long legged brunette I married twenty years ago and that strategy won't work anymore.

It was a quick though. One that brought a smile to my face for little while. Reality set in and the extra money is small price to pay to keep the peace. She can be quite vicious. :)

If I do change it, I'll post some before and after pictures. I might just do it to spite her.
