Hello Everybody,

I need help in Choosing Speakers for Poineer Elite model VSX-72TXV.

Little Discription about the product ("A Direct Energy Bipolar 7-Channel powerplant delivers 130 Watts to all 7 channels with very credible authority and our new Advanced MCACC calibration system, Burr Brown 192kHZ / 24-Bit digital to analog converters, new Phase Control bass management system, and new Standing Wave compensation circuitry digitally combine to create the 3-Dimensional aural experience the studio engineer intended for you to hear in the home").

Thanks

Oookay... You got to love marketing guy's descriptions...

On to important stuff -- some technical -- some not...

How much do you want to spend?
What size can you (or your wife) tolerate?
How much current can this receiver handle? I.e. would it be comfortable dealing with 4 ohm speakers?

But, the bottom line in speakers is that you can't pick them based on specs. You need to hear them in action.

Make a CD with 3 or so pieces of music (or movie audio tracks) that you know really well and push the edges of things that speakers often don't handle well:
- pure, simple piano music
- clear, male voices singing
- some nice low bass notes
- and, perhaps, an explosion or movie track that you like

Then take that disc (or discs) with you to each sound room and listen for yourself. Assuming your "direct energy bipolar powerplant" is roughly equivalent to the amps used in good sound rooms (not necessarily true, but probably close enough), you should be able to see if you can narrow down the field based on what you hear and like.

Good luck...

PS. I own Thiel's in my main sound room and PSB Image's in my home theater -- both great.

My budget is in between $800 to $1200 on speakers. I like good bass with 12" SubW..I'm naive in this area, bigger the sub more watts it produce.
I have looked so far Paradigm Cinema 110 series, here in Houston there is a local dealer, which is giving me in $740. I considering Polk RM20 any review on this? How is energy speakers?

Any Review on The Pioneer reicever VSX-72TXV..I haven't bought it yet...I did lot of research, in 850 dollars (local dealer), it provides lot of functionality like HDMI,ipod, 130*7 (i'm suspisious about the power, coz some1 telling me pioneer Amps are underpowerd. is this correct?) ..Thanks in advance

How big is your room? What type of features are you looking for in a receiver? Is the $800 to $1200 for the speakers or is that for the whole system?

That's a pretty big room for small speakers to fill. If your looking at an $800 receiver that doen't leave much for the speaker budget.

Are you actually wondering if a VTF3-HO (or similar Hsu sub) and the VT-12 surround package is for you?

This may stretch your budget a bit, you may consider a pair of B&W 603's with a pair, or, two pair of PSB Alpha's.

The above of course does not include the VTF3 HO Turbo that you already budgeted for.

The other option is VTF3 HO with Vent's
