I just pulled the trigger and purchased the VT-12 VTF2 MK-2 and was not finding any newer recommendations on recievers that would match the system properly. It took me 9 months to decide on my speaker purchase and after reading this forum religiously everyday (almost a obsession) I feel I can trust everyones judgement . The brand name is not that important and the price range is around $250 to $500 maybe a bit more if anyone has a good reason to justify the additional money per improvement. I really want to Thank all of you here who have helped me and im sure many other(beginners)to make a informed choice . Scott

I'd ask Hsu to sell you one more pair of those satellites, and then buy the Harman Kardon AVR635 from jr.com. 7.1 audio, HD video switching and HD upconverting from composite/s-video/component plus EZ-EQ setup 2nd zone control, and gobs of power. It'll run $700 but if you could swing it, I'd do it.

After owning many other brand recievers,I agree whole heartedly. The HK 635 is a gem.
I'm sure the HK 435 would also make a fine reciever. It is the 435 , which my son has, that led me to buy the 635,not because the 635 was better, but I needed the extra watts to push my watt hungry speakers.
If cheaper is what you need to do,I wouldn't hesitate buying the 435. It should be way more than enough for your speakers.( If you can find one)

I really like the HK receivers I have a 7300 so no easy EQ for me. I would think the 435 would be fine for satalite speakers.

I currently have a HK AVR435 on order from JR.com. The price right now is $499.99 with free ground shipping. I had a hard time deciding between a Denon and the HK but a friend in the audio/video business put in the swing vote for HK.

I found a Denon avr 2106 at a local shop here in Anchorage with a reasonable price and a 30 day return policy so I purchased the unit and I must say I am very impressed. Even with my older speakers the receiver gives a measurable ammount of quality sound that I didnt know I was missing. Now the wait begins for the HSU to arrive. The question is does anyone else have a comparable denon product and does it blend well with the VT-12 and VTF2mk2 .

My wife had purchased a Denon 1906 awhile back to replace an older HK AVR 65.
For me , and her,we missed the HK sound we had become acustomed too.So we bought the HK 635.
We still use the Denon downstairs on a Bose speaker system.
We both find navigating the remote menu on the Denon to be very complicated.
Most Denon users find HK remotes to be difficult.
Every now and again, she'll accidently push a wrong button on the Denon remote. We'll bring out the Denon Manual and " try " to find out what going on.We now find it humerous where before it enraged us.We have come to realize that learning on HK , then trying to navigate on Denons,is like trying to learn a new language.

I had an older Yamaha HTR-5280 and tried to replace it with a Denon AVR-3803. I was disappointed, to say the least. I gave the Denon to the boy, and switched back to the Yammie. Bummer!

The Denon AVR-3805 would be a great choice. I have the AVR-3801 myself. Just an older version of the 3805. An excellent choice and a potential upgrade for me in the future.
