A bit brief but a nice summation.

Hmmm...they are listing the price as $995. Is that a mistake or has the regular price gone up from the original $899?

Secrets of Home Theater is extremely good at reviewing products. Their review of the VTF-3 MK2 was the reason I bought my VTF-3.

I would very much like the Turbo to be priced at $100 for upgraders such as myself. $20 for shipping is fine. That's my take.

I do think that downward firing subs sound better. I see that the HO is a side firing sub. It has been my experience that downward firing subs sound best. I'm not saying the HO won't sound good.

Any head to head comparisons of Turbo charged HO's vs. MK2's???

Dear Hans,

At bass frequencies, driver orientation should not make a very big difference in sound quality. We have had front-firing, down-firing, upward-firing, and side-firing driver orientations in subwoofers over the years, all with good results.

Sincerely,

I don't doubt the HO will sound great. I just think that downward firing woofers take away the directional sound of the sub. I'm very happy with my VTF-3 MK2. If I did not already have the MK2, I would be purchasing the HO.

What about the price for the Turbo upgrade? Will existing MK2 customers receive the same $100 price that HO buyers are getting with their new purchase?

Good morning Hans,

The price should be $199 for turbocharger sold separately. This is still much cheaper than purchasing a second MK2 subwoofer to have the same low turbulence air-moving capability as a single MK2 subwoofer with turbocharger, and lower opportunity cost too since shipping cost is very low.

Hi Peter,
Great hear the turbo will be a low cost upgrade. Any idea when it will be available for MK2 owners?

Thanks

Dear Legairre,

Turbocharger should be available once we are able to fill VTF-3 HO pre-orders. We will be sure to let you all know when it is available.

Looking at the VTF-3 MK2 back panel, I was sadden to see no user selector switch for International AC voltages range from 120 to 240V input.

Dear toast,

Here is how to switch from 120v to 240v:

Peter, could you answer my question in the second post of this thread about the pricing? Did they just accidentally shift $100 of the Turbo cost onto the sub cost (i.e. they said $999 and $99 instead of $899 and $199)?

Good morning Brad,

Probably what they meant was that the VTF-3 HO + turbocharger is that price. The actual price for VTF-3 HO is $899, and $999 with turbocharger.

Hope this helps!
