I have a dedicated 2-channel system I am looking to get a bit more bass out of. The speakers are Klipsch LaScala's (sound amazing but don't quite reach the lower frequencies for my liking). The room size is 25wx35dx25h. I listen to all sorts of music - blues, rock, classical, jazz.

I want a sub that is fast and not boomy. The sub must be able to keep up with the efficiency of the Klipsch, doesn't take much power to get these babies rockin.

Which of the Hsu subs would do the job?

Thanks!

Hi thewolf,

Provided that your budget is flexible enough, and the larger size of the VTF-3 MK3 is not bothersome, then by all means go with VTF-3 MK3. If budget is already tight near the $500 price point, and the smaller size and down-firing woofer of the VTF-2 MK3 are highly attractive for you, then the -2 MK3 is a great choice too. Both have a very flat and extended frequency response.

Sincerely,

To keep up with my Klipsch LaScala's in a room volume not quite as large as yours, around 5000 cu ft, I opted for the VTF-3 Mk3. Is your room really 25' high? That's a lot of volume. With corner placement, the VTF-3 does not strain in my room, even when I was measuring 100dB about a meter in front of it yesterday (when my wife was out of the house). So for me, it's a great match.

By the way, if your LaScala's have the older birch finish, Hsu's maple finish helps with the color match.

Bill...Yes the peak height is at least 25feet high. I may save up a bit more money and go for the VTF-3 MK3.....There is a lot of air space to fill.

I'd get the VTF-3. My room is smaller than yours, and I don't think anything less than the VTF-3 would be sufficient for my room.
