Another bookshelf question...
I was pleased to see there are bookshelves due out anytime now. I had been honing in on the VT-12 after thinking about a very economical 5.1 surround set. Now I have a new Pioneer VSX-1016TXV-K, and NO SPEAKERS! I came to this forum today wondering if there might ever be bookshelves in the works, and I was amazed to see it's true.
My idea was that if I DID get the VT-12, would I be able to expand the mid (and even perhaps upper) range of the set after I bought it? Usually going with the same brand line is the way to go when doing this. I would like to know what Dr. Hsu had in mind for integration of the VT-12 with the bookshelves - or if any such integration was intended or not. I was thinking of getting the STF-2 with the VT-12, and being able to expand this to a system that gets good full midrange sound along with really good highs would be ideal.
Any comments would be appreciated (and any further update on bookshelf availability as well, if possible).
Thanks

Dear Marsalabe,
I recommend carefully evaluating various factors such as budget, space, aesthetics, etc. Best results will come from using either VT-12 system w/ subwoofer(s), or HB-1 (bookshelf speaker) system w/ subwoofer(s), and mixing and matching is probably not a route that should be taken.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick reply Peter. That speaks highly of the company and of this forum.
Sorry to ask one more question, but I was wondering what would comprise a full (minimum 5.1) system using the bookshelves. I have seen photos and read a bit about the new bookshelves and the MBM, but I don't know what the intended setup would be - or if there is a plan for any type of package deal/discount.

I would like to echo that question: I just got a Harmon Kardon AV340 7.1 discrete amp and am currently making do with a Bose Satellite with passive sub. It warmed up considerably with this amp, but I know that a VTF3-MK2 sub and a full set of HB-1 speakers would be an amazing combination. I would prefer not to buy each individual speaker and sub, but rather a 6.1 set and add the last speaker-some kind of package. Please consider these questions in your marketing discussions-thanks.

Still looking for an update. In particular can you share the cabinet dimenstions?
Is the HB-1 suitable for a center channel?
The ventriloquist center is just too deep for my behind screen application.
Thanks

Dear bvwj,
We will actually be selling the HC-1, the horn center channel, to go along with the HB-1 horn bookshelf speakers. At the same time, HB-1's all around would work very well too (in fact, at CES, we were using HB-1's all around). I'm not exactly sure about the cabinet dimensions, I'll have to get back to you on that one. These speakers will be available for purchase very soon. Stay tuned.
Sincerely,

Hey Peter-
That center speaker looks great. I am sure it will be a great match with the HB-1s.
I will have to sneak over and syeal a test listen sometime.

Definitely Dave, definitely! Even HB-1's all around would be great, as long as one has no problems positioning the HB-1 nicely as a center channel.

They don't sound like them though, definitely a different voicing. No colored cones on these either. :)
