I hope I made a good choice. It will be replacing a Klipsch sub 12 in a system with Klipsch F-3 mains, C-3 center, and S-3 surrounds.

I agree with jebhdood, the HSU 3.3 is a great sub.

If by that you mean the max AC power requirements, the Owners Manual (http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/VTF.pdf) for the VTF3-3 gives this as 430W.

No I meant output. It is 350RMS but what is the max output/amp peak?

I just checked the tracking and my sub is sitting in a fedex truck at the local hub where it is currently -15 degrees. I hope this doesnt hurt the sub any.

I am very happy with my purchase. This sub puts what I had before to shame. It blends great with my speakers and it was exactly what I was hoping for.

Regarding cold temperature, it is true that trying to play a subwoofer at super cold temps will affect the performance (to say the least!), but once it is brought inside into warmer temps, then it should be just fine :)

Is it possible that I was over drivng this sub with an Onkyo 805 receiver at -45 and the sub volume at about halfway playing Modern Warfare 2 on xbox 360?

Yes but just using the receivers test tone. I have it running 5db hot. I like bass. I have it set in extension mode.

Sorry but I have yet another question. I have Klipsch F-3 mains that will go down to 35hz. Should I set the crossover lower than 80hz for them?

Feel free to experiment with a crossover between, say, 60-80Hz. Some people prefer to have more mid-bass from the main speakers, while others prefer to have more mid-bass from the subwoofer, depending on system config and listening preferences.

Ive always removed (crossover point) as much deep bass from my mains as I can. This is because I find most speakers can never play flat down to anything close to their spec sheet numbers. Even disregarding being flat down at 15Hz-60Hz they all deliver such deep bass at much higher distortion rates than a well designed dedicated subwoofer.

It also lightens the load on your speakers driving amplifier.

The vital part for me is retaining the seamless imaging of the soundstage. To do so is a "room acoustic balance" between sub location, mains location, crossover point, crossover slope and seating location.

PS: Of course better equipment and good room accoustics makes life a little easier.

I received my second 3.3 yesterday and I am absolutely blown away. 1 was good but 2 is great. I have one in max extension and the other in max output. All I have to say is wow. Hsu makes a product that looks great and sounds even better. I lowered the crossover for the mains to 70hz and I am much happier. I know the f-3's arent as good as Klipsch's Reference line but they have a decent amount of bass to them.

They are close together. That is really the only way for them to look decent in the room.
