With all the positive feedback on the new HO, I am starting to wonder if I should have purchased it instead of a VTF-3 MK2. I have a 15X18X8 (2160) room with a 7.5X6.5 opening at the rear of the room. This of course opens up to a large open living room and open kitchen. Roughly 4000 cubic square feet. The mk2 is an excellent performer, I would just hate to always wonder what if. Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated. Also does HSU offer an upgrade option since I am still in my 30-day trial period?

I would not beat yourself up over it. As you already know, the VTF-3MK2 is an excellent subwoofer. In all-around ability, IMO, the best in class.
That said, there are always going to be better subwoofers.
Since you are in the 30 day period, I would think you could simply return it and pay the additional costs for the HO....but the HO is apparently out of stock for a month or so.

The VTF3-MKII is an excellent sub and no one will argue that enjoy your choice I think you will be very pleased and if you want to you can always add the turbo to get that extra kick.

I am a big fan of both the VTF-3 Mk2 and VTF-3 HO. The Mk2 is noticeably smaller and lighter, and has a nice punchy sound with very good extension and high maximum output capability. The HO has these good qualities too of very good extension and high maximum output capability, but of course at a higher cost and a larger size (same height, greater width and depth). Also, if one orders the HO today, they will not get it in time for the holidays. That said, both the Mk2 and the HO have upgradeable performance characteristics. So there are definitely some tradeoffs to consider.
Hope this helps!

Peter, would you post a brief list of upgrades/mods available for Hsu subs?
In another thread you mentioned a fixed extended amp mod for the STF-3.
What other mods are available?

I'm in a situation where I may made need to make a decision. My TN1220 driver is now with HSU and I may need to purchase a new one (assuming one is available). I may be in a situation where either I need a new sub or will need to decide if I should suck it up and pony up the difference between a new driver and a new sub.
I've searched and haven't found any recent comparisons between the 1220 and the VTF-3 MK2 and the new HO.
I have the 250 watt AMP for my 1220
Can anyone shed any light how those 3 subs might compare?

All of the dual port models can make use of turbocharger to modify the porting structure. Of course, theoretically, there can be driver/amp upgrades too, as we have done in the past on TN/VTF series. And yes, for a small fee, the amplifier on the STF-3 can be modified to have a fixed extended bass setting, where the subwoofer would be used with one port plug.
