I own a VTF-series home sub and am thinking about putting together a simple car sub to fill in some low spots. I've been researching the Hsu ASW-1203 for a while now and figured that I'd give it a shot since I love my home sub so much.

These forums are practically dead when discussing the ASW-1203. This sub has been around for what - 2.5 years - and there are a total of maybe 10 posts about it. Surely there have to be more fanboys / wanna-be fanboys.

In any case, since Dr. Hsu likely doesn't sell truckloads of these drivers I'm sure that there will be a clearance sale soon, right? *wink*

I'll be installing the driver into a 1.0ft3 sealed enclosure with some polyfill and will be likely driving it with a Kicker ZX350.2 bridged into 350watts RMS @ 4ohm. The sub is going to be in a hatchback so I dont see a need for a 1.6ft3 enclosure and JL 500/1, especially since I'd like to retain my hatch space and wallet. Plus, I'm going for SQ in-car, not attention. My music is for me to listen to, not for people standing across the street. :)

Any plans to update this model with something newer? Any sale prices coming around the corner? This post is basically a *bump* since no one has made one about this driver in 11 months and I figured that there might be some news along this front.

Thanks,

-Jeffrey

I love mine. I use about the same size enclosure and polyfill, but much less power.....two bridged channels from my JL Audio amp...about 150 watts total.

I had a JL Audio CVS110G-W3v3 ProWedge, but liked my Hsu setup better, so sold it.

You are only driving it with 150 watts RMS? Is that enough to drive this sub, given that you have it in the seating area and not in a trunk? I'd rather not get a huge amp but I just wanted to make sure I was getting enough power to feed it - it will be in the back of an RSX just a few feet from my head. :)

What volume is your custom enclosure? I read the other post about it but dont recall seeing that detail.

Yes, I am using channels 5 and 6 from my JL Audio e6450 amp, so about 150 watts RMS into 4 ohms. It is plently of power. I would like to try more but there is no real need to.

The enclosure is about 1^3 ft as well.
