My first impression of vtf3.2

hi guys, good day to all!

good news; just received my new hsu sub in singapore just an hour ago.

Bad news; the driver is rattling as if something is loose in there but i did feel the somewhat 'broken'low frequency.

Any quick fix or should i return it back?

Ps. The volume is always at 9 to 12 o'clock psition. I took out the screws and examined the driver unit and test it. The rattling is confirmed to be inside the driver unit itself. This is very disappointing for a new product. What an anti climax after days of anticipation.

Don't worry. I've delt with Hsu for years and believe me they will make things right. contact tech support and chances are they will just ship you a new driver and then you put the old one in that box and return it to them postage paid.

nurseshark, when you first used the subwoofer, where did you set the bass extension switch at on the subwoofer? How high was the subwoofer channel level on the receiver? Did you have crossover 'In' or 'Out'? Presumably you are using the subwoofer with spiked feet on a soft flooring surface, correct?

Note that setting the volume knob at 12 o'clock will make it easy to overdrive the woofer, due to the very high gain on the volume control.

Do you hear any noise from the driver with volume knob at 9 o'clock? Are you hearing rattling at very low levels with music and movie program material?

FYI, this unit was inspected before shipping out to Singapore, and was in great shape. Certainly is possible that something got damaged in shipping, or perhaps the woofer was overdriven when the volume was initially set to 12 o'clock? Anyway, feel free to email us with a response to these questions, and we will work to get you up and running.
