Hi all,

Old school guy slowly embracing the new millenia. I have an older stereo system which I really like and do not want to change (old Adcom 200W/Ch Amp and separate Preamp. Finally replaced my old AR speakers with Infintiy Beta50's (fine considering $600/pr). Bi-wired configuration.

90& music / 10% movies. Mainly listen to blues/jazz and 70's - 90's rock (grew up on "hair" bands and still like 'em).

I'd greatly appreciate recommendations on a sub $400 subwoofer. The Adcom equipemnt is old (~20 years) and there is no "surround sound", subwoofer output, etc. I'll need to make sure I get a powered subwoofer with the "right connection scheme", right?

Finally narrowed it down to the Hsu STF-2, the Martin Logan Dynamo or the Onix Rocket ULW-10. All can be had at this time for <$400. Maybe an STF-3?

Currnet location is small (10x10) but may move to a larger room.

Final recommendations that will work best in my set-up? Thanks!

well you have to go with either the Hsu STF-2 or the Martin Logan Dynamo. the Onix Rocket ULW-10 does not allow for hookup with your setup. personally id go with the Hsu STF-2. i own one myself and find the bass much more than adequate. i think the Hsu STF-3 will be overkill. unless youd eventually move to a large room. by large i mean 20 x 20 or larger. then id get the Hsu STF-3. but i say the Hsu STF-2 would work great and hookup would be easy too.

I have a STF-3 in a small room and it works great. Either choice would be fine.
