Hi,
I have a Velodyne ULD15 (obviously an older model.... still using Velo's transducer tracking with a 15" driver).

How would the Hsu VTF MK3 (with or without Turbo)(or perhaps the HO model .. I can't tell from the forum yet how much you lose going to the MK3 from the HO) compare to the older Velodyne? I use it primarily with movies in a closed room approximately 16 X 22 X 8.5ft.

I'm thinking of upgrading, but haven't been able to get a feel for how the older ULD15 stacks up against current models.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Joe,

I have 2 ULD 15s and the VTF-3HO (plus 2 1220s, 4 HRSW10s and 1 Velo FSR-12, but that's another story). I can tell you that in terms of maximum output level the HO is significantly better (way, way, way better) than the ULDs which really are dinosaurs. (They are circa 1990, have non-defeatable low-pass fixed xovers and foam surrounds.) Since the MOL of the HO is SO MUCH GREATER than the ULDs, the Mk3 most certainly will be greater. The ULDs simply can't deliver realistic (or even audible) output at the lowest of frequencies. Plus, when the limiter kicks in the ULDs sound horrible.
