I have attached a diagram of my subwoofer setup. It does not use HSU mid-bass units. However this is a testimonal that I love this setup, which includes the use of subwooofers configured as mid-bass units.
I could always locate the HSU's position when using it to play all the way up to 100 HZ crossover. This new setup, with "mid-bass units" has eliminated that localization issue, AND given me more mid-bass dynamics.
It has also allowed me to tune th HSU slighty hot (I.e. the 0-50hz output of the HSU is adjusted slightly louder). This provides more "ooomph" in the very low regions without creating boomy/thumpy bass in the mid-bass region.
The overall result in a more immersive experiencece for both movies and music.
Note mine are located in the front plane. I have not experimeted with near-field placement, as recommended by Dr Hsu for his modules.
