Hello,

Looking to setup a 2.1 audio system mostly for music, but also some TV and gaming, in a 19' by 12' room that leads into other rooms.

I have Monitor Audio RS6s for the loudspeakers. I'm looking to purchase HK 3490 for the receiver, which has two sub outs, but no bass management.

Question: Does the crossover variability of the VTF series preclude the need for bass management in say an AVR? I'm new to this....

I listen to a lot of bass heavy music, so some control would be ideal.

Thank you
Chris

Hi Chris,

The internal crossover on our subwoofers is low-pass only. So the sub crossover will only roll off higher frequencies sent to the subwoofer, but will not do anything to keep deeper bass out of the main speakers.

Are you looking to use a subwoofer as a bass augmentation device for the mains, or would you rather limit the lower frequencies sent to your mains to reduce strain on the main speakers?

FYI, we do sell a high pass filter which will keep deeper bass out of the mains: http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/high-pass-filter.html

Thanks

Sincerely,

Thanks for the quick reply Pete, I was unaware of that product.

In response to your question, I'm looking for a sub that will deliver the full impact of the deep bass in dubstep/trip-hop. Any recommendations for a receiver that works well with the VTF subs? Speakers are RS6s.

Live in a townhouse with neighbours on each side, so I will not be cranking it too high.

Chris

Hi Chris,

The new receivers from Pioneer, Onkyo, Denon, Harmon Kardon, etc should all work nicely with our subwoofers.

Sincerely,
