How do you guys get your port plug out? Just got my MK3 and my big hands pushed it further in trying to get it out!
Thanks!

so you can not get your hands/fingers around the plug and pull it out?

You could always order another one from Hsu and when it arrives use a corkscrew to remove the old one.

Is the foam material too porous that a vacuum cleaner's hose suction wouldn't pull it out?

I used a pair of chopsticks... Work one in on either side and you should be able to apply enough pressure to pull it out.

Is this for the 4 inch ports? On my 3 inch there is all kinds of room to get a hold on it.

Thanks for the responses so far. It was in there pretty good to start and I worked it in a little farther trying to get a grip on it (it is the 4" port).
I'm going to go try the vacum cleaner!

Sounds to me that the plug is to small for the 4 inch port. On my VTF3 MKII there is no problem. Man I'd really have to jam that plug in there not to be able to remove it. Good luck guys, I think something is wrong if two of you can't remove it.

Yeah, I have a VTF-3.2 as well, and the port plug is no problem. Ports are 3", though, so I don't know about the 4" ports on the newer ones.

The 4" port has a lot more volume for a port plug to be squeezed into than the 3" port! Thor, the key to getting it out will probably be to try to get something long enough and thin enough to grab it on two ends so that you will be able to slowly pull it out. See if you can find something around the house that might do the trick, and sorry about the problem!

Dumb question but - what is the purpose of the port plug? Am I supposed to leave it in? Take it out?

It changes the tuning of the enclosure. If you remove the plug, match the switch on the back to the setting.
Usually, with the VTFs, this lets you choose between Maximum Output and Maximum Extension, the former having a few more dB of headroom, and the latter giving you a few more Hz extension.

Did you get it out??

I GOT IT! I twisted a screw in it to get a grip and pulled - that got it all the way to the edge. The screw pulled out of the foam at that point. Then used two flat-head screwdrivers to get it out from there.
Looks like there is a small seam at the end of the port that was just enough to hold it back.
Thanks again!

I cant believe this thread, I had the same problem at first with my 3 MK3. Its so freakin easy and you DO NOT need to stick anything into the port plug and ruin it. All you have to do is push in on one half of the plug, the top or the bottom and this makes it swivel inside the port and is a breeze to pull out. SO just push in on the top half of it and the bottom half will be easy to grab on to because its now half the size of the port. It wont push in any further either if you do it this way.

Yeah...you don't want to damage the plug. You need it if you decide you want to change the tuning of the sub.

I tried pushing in on one half - the farther it kept going in.
