I purchased a 3.3, old style where you can see the seams, and I was going to order another one but other projects sidetracked me and now its back to finishing my theater.
A couple questions, would I be better off getting a second 3.3 or getting a MBM12, the room is 13 x 27 x 8. Secondly is there any discount for returning customers.

Thanks Jason

Hi Jason,

Does your room open to any other areas of the house, and if so, what are those dimensions? Where is the current subwoofer placed, and how much flexibility do you have to place another true subwoofer?

We would be happy to give 5% returning customer discount on any regularly priced item.

Sincerely,

That room has an opening that goes to the upstairs area thats 27 x 20 x 12. I can place the subs almost anywhere, right now its in the front right corner. I was think if I get another 3.3 I would probably take the feet off and stack it on the other one.
If I put it in the other front corner would I lose some since the sub is facing out of the corner.

Thanks again Jason.

Thank you for the info Jason! What type of main speakers are you using, and what size woofers do they have?

From your main listening position, where exactly is the opening?

Will you be able to place either VTF and/or MBM in the nearfield?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get as much info as possible before giving a recommendation.

Thanks

In the main listening spot the opening which is 48" wide arched doorway would be from about the 11' to 15' mark with the front at the 15' mark. Sorry don't know how else to describe it.
Yes I would be able to place something nearfield if need be.

The speakers are discountinued MB Quart 2000, they have 2@8's 2@5 1/4's and a tweet. They are rated 3db down at 28hz. You can see a pic of them on the Frappr Map, its the frozen wasteland know as South Dakota.

Thanks for all the help Jason.

I am assuming that the opening is to the left side wall, as viewed from the listening position, correct?

You have a fairly voluminous space to fill, so my initial thoughts are that you would be better off getting a second VTF-3 MK3. You can actually leave the feet on and stack on top of the first if you like. Try using a crossover frequency of ~ 60Hz between the main speakers and subwoofers to help minimize floor bounce effect when stacking. Alternatively, you can always try separating the two subwoofers too.

The opening is on the right sidewall, with the front of the seating at about the 15' mark. After I reread my description I see it wasnt very good.

Any chance that you can try your current -3 MK3 in the front left corner (as viewed from your main listening position)?

As an aside, try to avoid sitting near the center of the room, as bass will be weakest there.

Sincerely,
