I believe you will be happy with your purchase. What size is your room in cu.ft.? When will it be delivered? Don't forget that break in might be a good idea. It may be ready out of the box but I would suggest a few lower sessions first and if you live where it is cold, let the sub warm up to room temperature as well before any loud blasting scenes so the material can best perform for you. Same as woofers in cars, they simply sound better on warmer days! Welcome to the HSU-crew!

DISCLAIMER:
I am a regular Joe that does not have a lot of cash and hoping my wife does not notice this monster in my office under the built in desk. With that being said, I refuse to risk losing a limb by my wife's hand over a piece of junk so I will return a piece of equipment in a fly's heartbeat if I am not satisfied. I think it is cool to get something that does what it says it will do.:)
I know that you will be happy with you sub. I am not even sure if mine is set up properly. I put it in in Max output since 22Hz should do me fine on average. I ran the auto set up on my receiver, turned it up just a bit. I can only stanbd the volume halfway past the first mark on the dial . LOTS OF BASS!!. The power under control is cool though. Anyway, the best way I can describe this is that it is a bi polar monster. Subtle at times and angry at others. I want to call it a ssub womper but I can't. As articulate as this thing is, I can only call it a bass speaker. I know that is not accurate for some of you tekkies but this sub sounds like a bass version of a smaller speaker. What I mean is that it is just as articulate with its low tones as my JBL LC2 and L820s are with their mids and highs. I am already satisfied so If it it supposed to perform better than what I have it set to, I will amazed all the more. This is a lot of sub for a 1,320^3 room. Glad I did not get a bigger one.
This mutha handles its bizness straight up!!
Thanks for the reccommendation

Considering your room is 1/2 the size of the volume the sub is considered good for... you are going to be more than pleased and most likely will not be able to turn it up above 1/4 gain w/o some serious headache pills - we ain't talkin' Goody's powder either! I ought to take my sub and put it in my bed room just for fun to see how it does there... it is 16X14 w/10' ceilings! That will be sick! Should hook it up to the wifes alarm clock on April Fool's Day!

Okay I recieved my VTF-2 MKIII yesterday! Have not really got the chance to set it up yet and was wondering if you guts had any vital tips for set-up, calibration, etc. I am also curious if something like the GIK Trip Traps placed in the corners behind my mains and near my sub, http://www.gikacoustics.com/product_info.html , will really make a difference in sound quality. Thanks!

get a quality well sheilded cable first. let it warm up to room temp just in case, before you play it loud. let it break in with good music for a while. sit it at your LP and crawl on the ground to find best response and try the sub in the best three places that you find on your hands and knees. give it 4" clearance minimum b/t ports and anything else. put it near the LP if you can. if you fire it at your couch you will have better 'feel' during deep scenes. try different things but don't push it on the first day like the rest of us did
set the dials on the back to phase=0, gain/volume=9 o'clock, 25Hz and pull the plug out, crossover set to out and set crossover dial to 80Hz (also set the crossover in your receiver to handle 80Hz) and switch to auto on..... play away!
good luck and let us know. oh, don't forget to put the spikes on it before you hook it up.

OK, I got my first Hsu system about a week ago. Got the Vt-12 satellites (wife) and a Vtf 3.3 and an MBM. Put it all together and have been listening for about a week. It is getting better (break-in period???). Set up the subs by recommendations by Hsu technical, using test tones supplied with the speakers. No problem. I'm lucky, the room is has fairly flat response (in the base region). Have the sub in the front left corner of the room (12w x 25 d x 8h); the seats are about 2/3's of the way back; and the MBM is behind us - fairly near. Have not noticed any localization of the subs. Denon receiver - used the audyssey setup. It set the front around 150 Hz and the rears around 250 Hz. Seems kinda high; but like I said, I can't get any localization. I'm pleased as punch. Rented Jurassic Park -- nothing like having a T-Rex march across your den. Great effect. If you are having trouble with the wife, try playing a movie with TV sound, then follow with the surround system. Mine was grumbling a bit until I did this a few times. Impressive.
Right now, I've had a scotch (or three) and I'm watching Eric Clapton on digital TV. It don't get no better than this.
