How are the HB-1" supposed to be mounted? I noticed HSU doesn't sell any stands or wall brackets or anything. Do they have a keyhole in the back? Are they even supposed to be flush, back to the wall? As I said in another thread, I'm considering an Ultimate system but was wondering where I would put the speakers. Thanks.

The speakers have threaded holes for wall mounting. Since the speakers are rear ported, keyhole mounting wouldn't work well because it would obstruct the port. Definitely do not want to put them flush against a rear wall. Maybe you can start a separate thread asking about what stands people are using with their HB-1's. Thanks!

HP666, the owner's guide for the HB-1 will show the mounting instructions http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/hb-1.pdf . :)

Hi Peter, does the HB-1 comes with the swivel mount for wall mounting? If no, how would I know where to get them and the right size to get? Thanks.

yes, where can we get the wall mounts? Maybe someone could find the right ones somewhere and post a link?

Peter,
How far from the wall would the port have to be, optimally?

HP, I'd give at least 1" of space in between the port and rear wall. I'll look into the different mounting options. Thank you!

I have HB-1s on order and that are due to arrive tomorrow. I have not ordered wall mounts, but have been researching the options. The HB-1s come with a keyhole bracket installed, but which should not be used based on HSU feedback because of the rear port spacing requirement. If you remove the bracket, you will be left with a pair of screw holes on the back of the speaker that are 1.25" center to center and which can be used with a matching wall mount. The problem is that I have not yet found a wall mount with holes that have the same 1.25" center to center spacing and proper weight capacity.

In my research, I have found two mounts that appear promising to me:
1) B-tech BT77, and
2) Panavise 110120B.

I like the Panavise because of the high flexibility for orienting the speaker, however, the mounting holes are 2.5", so you'll need to be willing to put "new" screw holes into the back of the HB-1s. On the other hand, the B-tech provides a secure platform for the speaker to sit on and holds the speaker with side "friction" pads. The B-tech is less flexible regarding speaker orientation. It only allows a max of a 7 degree downward tilt angle. Hope that helps.

I saw the picture form the manual and the pic there looks like the mounts I use for my Ventriloquist speakers. Check these out:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000634T6/103-5299350-4591067

They work well for me.

Edit: Will support 8 pounds, didn't check weight on HB-1s.

Hsu informed me that the HB-1s weigh in at 12.2 lbs.

The Omnimount 20 series is designed to support up to 20 lbs., just like their 10 series supports 10 lbs. (I believe the Ventriloquist manual had mentioned the 10 series as a compatible mount.) An Omnimount 20 is what I will be getting for my HB-1's.

The Omnimount 20 is another option. You may want to check some of the forums. I read some negative comments that these are difficult to secure properly with the Hex screws so that they stay in place. But, I have no personal experience with these and they may be fine.

Will the Vantage Point still holds with 4 extra lbs? I rather prefer the Vantage Point over the Omnimount.

mystro,

What wall mount did you end up using?
