I have owned a VTF3HO with Turbo for a ocuple of years. I have tried several room placements, but for whatever reason (probably just particular room accoustics in my basement), I can always localize the bottom end (my main speakers are KEF Q series with 6.5" woofers set at 80Hz crossover on the receiver, so the localization is not due to excessively high mid range coming through the sub).

I am thinking that maybe I can enter the dual sub club to see if subs located in different locations could resolve the localization issues. I have tried to find another HO so that I run identical subs, but no luck. Would it be a good idea to add a VTF3MK3, or are the drivers too different?

Hi strugs,

The VTF-3 MK3 would be the appropriate choice I think, unless you can snag an HO on the used market.

Try setting the crossover switch to 'In' and crossover knob to the same crossover frequency that you have set on your receiver, to give a more rolled off upper bass response. Also try running the sub with turbo and bass extension switch set to the '2 port open' mode, to give a more rolled off deep bass response. Finally, try lowering the subwoofer channel level in 1db increments, as the subwoofer may be running somewhat "hot" relative to the main speakers.

Sincerely,
