Hello,
I just received my new STF-3 yesterday, hooked it up and played abit with the placement/settings.
Here's what i got.
Piradigm Monitor 9's V5
Piradigm Titan's v4's rears
Piradigm CC290 v5 center
Yamaha HTR 5890
I have all speakers on small, with crossover at 80.
Now for the stf-3.
I have the volume up to halfway.
The crossover is on out, and the phase to 0.
Is it normal that i would need to have the sub volume that high?
I watched Master & Commander last night, to test it out.. wow those cannon shots are crazy!

I take it you did calibrate the system. I have Axiom M80s with the Stf 3 and the gain on mine is at around the 9 o'clock position.

yes i did calibrate using the yapo on the yamaha.,
The funny thing is, the receiver set the subwoofer level to -9.
Tonight i'll set the receiver to 0 for subwoofer, then i should be able to lower the volume on the sub to around 9-10 o'clock.
Here's a layout of my main floor.
I first tried the sub in position A, when i was seated on the couch i could barely hear any bass.. Seems like all the bass was getting stuck in that little room.
Right now i have it at position C, but it's kinda in the way of everything.. but it sounds really good.
I'm hoping that position B will work, and the bass wont get lost in the stairs.
Because it really is the best out of sight place for the sub.
That stupid fireplace really screws up the layout.

Have you filled out this form (http://www.hsuresearch.com/feedback.php) to see what Dr. Hsu would recommend.

anyone know why position A is so bad for bass?
Does it really matter what direction the port holes are pointing to?

Denis, in position A, there is a very short distance from the front wall to the back wall. You could be experiencing some cancellation due to sound waves reflecting backwards as other sound waves move forward. How much distance is there between the front and back walls in the upper left hand portion of your diagram?
